Mother with her Baby

Perinatal Therapy

There is a special place in my heart for working with new parents navigating the challenges of the postpartum and perinatal period. Parents often prepare for a baby's arrival, but may not fully understand how their relationships and identities will change as well.  It is a humbling experience!

When things don't go as expected, therapy can help us truly embrace the all-consuming and beautiful journey of parenthood. Even seasoned parents can benefit from therapy when there is a new arrival in the family system.

It Takes a Village...

Safe relationships and reliable support are key to providing stability and recovery during the Perinatal period.

Sometimes, our loved ones are well-meaning and eager to help. They may need guidance and coaching as to how to best assist you.

Sometimes, we need to reinvent what we thought our support systems would look like, in order to get the proper care in place.

I highly encourage a holistic approach that includes inviting romantic partners, grandparents, and other important loved ones into sessions. Their presence in sessions would always be at your discretion.

Additionally, the use of community resources such as support groups and collaboration with other healthcare providers is proven to be best practice for recovery.

Community resources will also be encouraged as sessions progress and needs are identified.
